    LED mask

  • How does the LED mask work?

Our LED mask is a professional clinical mask that has 4 different light programs. The different light treatments penetrate at different depths into the skin to treat different skin challenges. The mask has 576 LED lights that send out light waves that hit all areas of the face, and provides optimal treatment.

  • What do the different light treatments do?

Red light: This light treatment penetrates the deepest into the skin. It regenerates skin cells, reduces signs of aging such as wrinkles and fine lines, and evens out your skin tone.

Yellow light: This light treatment strengthens sensitive skin and reduces skin redness.

Green light: This light treatment calms irritated skin, and it also evens out the skin tone like red light.

Multi-programme: This is a brilliant multi-programme where you get a bit of everything! The treatment starts with a red light, switches to a yellow light, back to a red light again, before ending with a green light.

  • Do the treatments hurt?

No, the treatment with our LED mask is completely painless.

  • How long does each treatment last?

This depends on the result you are trying to achieve so it may vary slightly from person to person, but each light program lasts 7-20 minutes.

  • How soon will you be able to see results?

This is a mild form of treatment that improves the skin's properties by initiating the production of collagen in the skin. You will therefore see a gradual and natural improvement already after the first treatment. It will still take several weeks before a full-fledged result is achieved.

  • How long does the result last?

For most people, the result lasts around 180 days. To maintain the desired result, we recommend that you continue the treatment at 4-6 week intervals.

  • How do you turn on the LED mask?

Our LED mask works with touch and has no buttons. Start by connecting the mask to the included battery bank and make sure the battery is charged before you start. You switch on the LED mask by touching the mask at the left eye opening. You change the light program by touching the right eye opening.

The touch areas are marked with stickers that can be easily removed if you wish. The LED mask switches off automatically when the selected light program is finished.

  • Does the LED mask work for everyone?

Yes! Our mask is suitable for everyone regardless of age, skin type and ethnicity.

  • Is the light harmful to the eyes?

Our LED mask comes with protection for the eyes so that the LED lights will not damage the eyes during treatment. Place the included jelly pads so that the mask fits your face well and make sure the eye protection is close to the eyes. Avoid looking at the light a lot before and after treatment.

  • Is the LED mask water resistant?

No, the mask is not waterproof. Should you be unlucky enough to get the mask under water, you must not use it again.

  • Gua Sha + Facial Roller

  • What is Gua Sha?

Gua Sha is a massage technique that has been used in Chinese medicine for over 2,000 years. The technique involves massaging the face in outward movements. Massage with Gua Sha increases blood circulation and lymph circulation in the skin. This helps to smooth out wrinkles, improve the skin tone and texture of the face and gives glowing skin.

Gua Sha is a relaxing beauty treatment that will make a difference to your skin by dissolving muscles, draining lymph fluid, increasing blood circulation and tightening the skin on the face. The technique can also relieve pain, reduce swelling, remove toxins from the skin and increase oxygen supply. The technique has become very popular as a natural and "green" beauty ritual that almost functions as meditation for many.

  • Does Gua Sha Work?

Yes. Gua Sha will also increase blood circulation in your skin. When it is increased, your skin cells receive more blood, nutrition and oxygen so that the skin has an immediate glow, while waste products are carried away. By massaging the face in outward movements, you also start lymphatic drainage. This will reduce swelling on the face and cleanse the skin of waste products. Gua Sha is also used for tension headaches, tense jaw muscles and stiff muscles.

  • How do I use the Gua Sha stone?

Before you start, make sure your skin is freshly cleansed. Then apply a delicious face oil or serum to your skin, so that the stone glides well over the skin. Never perform Gua Sha on dry skin. Hold the stone flat against the skin, and move the stone at a leisurely pace over the skin. Use light to medium pressure. The direction of movement should always be sideways or upwards for good lymphatic drainage.

    1. Start at the bottom of the neck. Move the stone upwards 5-10 times and wiggle the stone slightly each time it hits the hairline. Repeat the same pattern on the sides of the neck and on the front of the neck.

    2. On the face, start at the bottom of the jaw and move the stone towards the ear 5-10 times. The curved side is perfect to use here.

    3. The next route is over the cheeks and cheekbones, feel free to use the long flat side of the stone. Then go over the area under the eye, then the eyebrow. In these areas you should use a lighter pressure, and the direction of the stone's movement is now towards the temple.

    4. Finally, lightly scratch the forehead, from the middle between the eyebrows and up towards the hairline.

  • How do I use the Facial Roller?

Our Face Roller is a face roller for more gentle, yet effective massage. Facial Roller stimulates blood circulation so that the skin gets a healthy glow, and at the same time has a cooling effect on swelling and irritated skin.

    1. Before you begin, you must clean the skin. Always use the Facial Roller together with a product, such as a facial oil or serum. You can also use the Face Roller over a sheet mask, which means that the roller glides more easily over the face and the skin absorbs the moisture from the mask extra well.

    2. Roll with light to medium pressure at a leisurely pace when using the face roller. The direction of movement must always be sideways or upwards. Roll in one direction, and don't roll back and forth.

    3. Start at the bottom of the neck and move upwards, also remembering the sides of the neck. Roll over the same area 5-10 times. On the face, start at the bottom of the jaw, then over the cheeks and cheekbones, and roll over the skin 5-10 times up towards the ear.

    4. Then roll over the areas under and above the eye towards the temple, and finally in the forehead from the middle between the eyebrows up towards the hairline. Use the large roller on the cheeks, jaw and forehead, while the small roller is great for the area around the eyes.

Tip! For example, if you have Rosacea, I would recommend a chilled Facial Roller over the Gua Sha stone.

  • What oil should I use when performing a Gua Sha massage?

There are many different oils that can be used for Gua Sha massage. Both almond oil, argan oil, coconut oil, shea butter and jojoba work well together with your Gua Sha set from Silkemyk. Which oil suits your skin depends on your skin type and the season. Dry skin and colder temperatures call for oilier facial oils. This could be, for example, coconut oil, shea butter or almond oil. Oily skin and warmer temperatures need lighter oils. This can be oil from apricot kernels, sesame seeds or jojoba oil.

  • How often should I use my Gua Sha kit?

There is no definitive answer as to how often or how much you should use your Gua Sha set. Use it as much as you want. We recommend 3-5 minutes about 3 times a week.

According to Vogue , you will increase microcirculation by up to 400% by massaging your face daily for one to two minutes. Microcirculation is the part of the circuit where nutrients are absorbed and waste substances are excreted.

  • IPL hair remover

  • What is IPL?

IPL stands for " intense pulsating light ", and consists of gentle light waves that form a white light. An IPL machine is simply a laser that absorbs light from the hair follicles, and in this way puts the hair growth into hibernation mode. The IPL light waves hit the melanin in the hair under the skin, and the white light is then absorbed by the hair follicles. The heat from the light energy puts active hairs into sleep mode, which means that new hairs do not grow out.

  • How does IPL work?

The light pulses from Silkemyk's IPL technology hit the melanin in the hair under the skin. The white light is then absorbed by the hair follicles. The heat from the light energy puts active hairs into sleep mode, which means that new hairs do not grow out. Because hair grows in cycles and alternates between being active and passive, the light pulses only stop active hair strands. Therefore, the treatment must be repeated over time to reach all hair follicles.

  • How long will it take before I can see results?

Most customers notice reduced hair growth after 3-4 treatments, with full results after as little as 12 treatments. However, results vary from person to person.

  • How often should I use it?

We recommend that you use the IPL hair remover once a week for the first 12 weeks. After this period, you can use IPL once a month for 3 months, or until you are satisfied. To maintain silky smooth skin, you should use the laser once every 2 months, or as needed. Because the IPL treatment is only effective during the active growth phase of your hair, there is no point in using the IPL hair remover more than once a week.

  • What areas of the body can I use it on?

An IPL hair remover can be used on most areas of the body with the exception of the eyes and internal genital areas. Common areas to treat are armpits, arms, legs, face, bikini line, upper lip, fingers, toes and on the upper arms and thighs.

Avoid areas with a lot of pigment. The pigmented areas of your skin will absorb the flashes of light from the IPL laser at a deeper level, which can cause skin irritation. Do not use IPL directly on tattoos, freckles, dark birthmarks or moles.

  • Does IPL work on all hair colors?

The effect of IPL depends on the level of melanin in the hair shaft. The more melanin in the hair shaft, the more effective the IPL laser works. Very light, red and gray hair contains little melanin, therefore the treatment will be less effective.

You can compensate for this with more treatments and by increasing the intensity level of the treatment. Please see our tables for which intensity you should choose, and which skin and hair types IPL works best on in this blog post.

  • Is hair removal with IPL suitable for all skin tones?

IPL technology works best if the hairs are darker than your skin. The treatment will therefore not be suitable for the darkest skin types, as the melanin has a chemical structure that enables it to absorb light energy. Skin cells with a lot of melanin will attract the IPL light, which means that it does not reach the hair follicles.

  • Can hair be removed permanently with the IPL laser?

Unfortunately, you should be careful if someone claims that you can remove hair permanently. Our hairs grow in cycles and alternate between being active and passive, and all types of hair removal require maintenance.

IPL technology only stops active hairs - therefore the treatment only needs to be repeated once every 3 months to maintain the result you want. This applies after the first 12 weeks where you must perform the IPL treatment once a week.

  • What modes does the IPL laser have?

Our IPL laser has 3 different modes that can be used as you wish.

Manual mode: This is a good setting where you have to press yourself to trigger flashes of light. This mode is optimal when removing hair from small areas such as the face, armpits and bikini line.

Automatic mode: To activate this mode, turn the machine away from your body and hold the on button for 3-5 seconds. This activates the automatic mode and it will start when the light field is in contact with your skin. Now the IPL machine starts flashes of light every 3 seconds. Remember that the flashes of light will only last as long as the base of the IPL machine is parallel and close to the skin.

Glide Mode: Hold the power button with the light window pressed against the skin to activate the mode. This mode is optimal for hair removal on larger areas, such as calves and thighs. This setting automatically emits a flash of light every three seconds and will only end when you lift the device away from your body.

  • Does the treatment hurt?

No, hair removal with IPL does not hurt. The light pulses can create a very mild feeling of heat during use, but it is completely harmless.

  • Can IPL be dangerous for sensitive skin?

Our handsets are designed for home use and are gentle on the skin. This means that it is also suitable for sensitive skin types.

  • Are there any side effects from IPL?

Side effects rarely occur if the handset is used properly. Common reactions after IPL treatment can be redness and swelling, but these symptoms usually subside immediately after the treatment. Remember to follow the procedure as described in the instructions for use, and take a skin test before choosing an intensity level. Explanation is in the user manual.

  • I have epilepsy. Can I use IPL?

No, then IPL treatment is unfortunately not suitable for you.

  • I am pregnant or breastfeeding. Can I use IPL?

No. Our IPL has not been tested for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding, and should therefore not be used. Silkemyk has been developed in collaboration with leading skin specialists, and they have advised against the use of Silkemyk's IPL or other light-based hair removal methods during pregnancy or breastfeeding, as a precaution to avoid any side effects.

  • Can I use my IPL laser over areas with freckles or moles?

You should avoid areas with a lot of pigment. The pigmented areas of your skin will absorb the flashes of light from the IPL laser at a deeper level, which can cause skin irritation. Do not use IPL directly on tattoos, freckles, dark birthmarks, moles and the like.

  • Do I have to shave the area I want to treat beforehand?

You do n't have to do anything, but for optimal results you should shave the areas to be treated before using the IPL hair remover. The reason why we recommend shaving the area first is so that the light energy can reach the hair follicle as quickly and well as possible. Remember that the hair follicles need to be intact for IPL to be effective. Therefore, avoid growing or plucking the hairs in the area you wish to treat.

  • Which hair removal methods can I use between treatments?

Between treatments, you can shave as needed. You should not wax or pluck your hair between treatments, as these hair removal methods remove the entire root. We need the root of the hair to be intact so that the IPL laser can absorb the light from it during the treatment.

  • Can I use IPL before or after solarium?

No. To protect the skin from damage, you must wait at least two weeks before performing an IPL treatment after you have used a solarium. When you have performed a treatment, you must wait at least 48 hours before exposing a treated area to the sun. The purpose of this precaution is to make sure that the skin is not sun damaged. Do not use the IPL laser if you are sunburned as this may cause side effects.

  • Can I perform a treatment after self-tanning?

No. You should exfoliate the skin and remove dead skin cells before using the IPL laser for the best possible results.

  • Do I need to wear eye protection?

No, eye protection is not required when using the IPL laser. Our IPL hair remover is equipped with a sensor that means it will not fire a light flash unless the entire light window is pressed against your skin. That said, you should never try to look directly into the light while it is flashing.

  • How do I clean after the IPL laser?

Cleaning the IPL hair remover is recommended after each treatment. You can use antibacterial products such as wipes, gel and cleanser to clean the laser itself and the light window after treatment. Make sure the epilator is switched off and not connected to power. You should then store the handset in a cool, dry place. The handset must be completely dry before the next use.

  • Is it normal for burnt hair to smell during treatment?

Yes, this is completely normal. As the light energy heats the hair, it may smell a little burnt. The smell is a result of unshaven hairs, so you can reduce the smell by making sure the skin is completely clean shaven before starting the IPL treatment.
